Gear in Backpack Disappeared

I had a large gun with gear in it. Including MK17 sniper & about 8 mags. I put backpack in safe so I could put on new player skin... Took backpack out of safe & everything was gone. Just an empty large gun bag.

I don't think can store equipment inside of another piece of equipment. The same thing happened to me whenever I put a backpack inside a car.

Yup. When the game saves items to the database, it only saves the item itself, not its contents. Sometimes you might get away with putting a loaded backpack in a vehicle or tent or safe, and immediately take it out and still have the contents. But if while it's in the container, the database polls and saves the object, it will be emptied. This is a problem with dayz itself and cannot be fixed except by the developers.
