Server Hardware
Everyone has expressed a wish to be able to attract more players to the server. After the recent update, I think performance should be able to support up to 20-30 players. I have tentatively upped the max player count to 30 to see how it fares, but if performance dips we may have to back it down a bit.
The reason I bring this up, is that the server runs on an older dual core machine. I run this server from my own personal machine. This has its advantages over "hosted" solutions, as the machine is almost solely dedicated to running the server as opposed to the virtual private servers that are used by paid hosting services, in which a single machine might feasibly host a hundred servers or more. Also, I have unfettered access to the machine which aids in updates and customization. I also like to keep it this way, as I do not have to rely on donations to keep the server running. All I have to pay for is my internet connection and electricity, which I will have regardless. As long as this server is hosted by my personal machine, I will never ask the clan or server for donations to keep it running.
That being said, I have expressed concern over the aging hardware, and a few people have suggested I start a gofundme account to take donations to pay for hardware.
So I did it.
Once again, this does not in any way affect whether the server stays open. It is simply to allow us to get access to newer hardware that will provide better performance and more players. If this campaign is successful, I plan to buy a fast quad core, motherboard, and possibly a solid state drive to run the server from. The machine's other hardware will be reused to keep cost down. If successful I will be completely transparent, and provide receipts for the hardware purchased as well as evidence that the server is indeed running on the new hardware.
Once more, this does NOT have any bearing on the servers life, and I do not ask anyone to donate. It is NOT required to play on Battleborne. Do not feel pressured to donate. However, if you feel that Battleborne is worth a small donation, and want to see better performance and a higher player count, I am inviting you to make a small donation toward that goal.
Here is a link to the campaign.

Donate what you would like, if you can.
I appreciate every player on Battleborne, and hope that this is only the beginning to something big: a large and thriving community of like-minded players who are all about the fun, like it was always meant to be!
Thanks for reading.

Re: Server Hardware
Apparently you can't use PayPal according to this

I don't have a PayPal account either unfortunately. I shut mine down years ago after getting scammed out of a 1000$ guitar, and PayPal did nothing to help. I don't trust PayPal at all.

Re: Server Hardware
And we have our first donator! A big thank you to TheWonderCraft! Myself and everyone on the server appreciates it greatly!
After some deliberation, we've decided that as a thank you, I will be giving out ingame rewards for donations. For every dollar donated, 1000 pop tabs will be added to your account!
Keep in mind, this is ONLY until the hardware is purchased. There will be no ongoing "pay to win" scheme on this server. I'm not looking for money, only to make the server better. And I want to say thank you for your support. So, WonderCraft, the next time you login, you'll have some shiny new pop tabs to say thank you!
Once the goal is met, this offer will expire.

Re: Server Hardware
A BIG thank you to TROY aka GeneralTorg! He has also donated to the server hardware campaign! One step closer to a bigger and better Battleborne!
Re: Server Hardware
And TheWonderCraft is back with a HUGE second donation! And with that we are halfway to our goal! With the server getting more and more traffic every day, we are going to need it soon! A HUGE thank you to TheWonderCraft!

Re: Server Hardware
I see that, ExileGlory! We had two big donations today! A big thanks to ExileGlory and Hensley! With their donations we are only $50 away from the goal! I can't believe that that would be possible within only 4 days! I never expected everyone to be so supportive. I figured it would take a couple of months at least, and you've all almost done it in 4 days! I am amazed, and I appreciate every one of you. Battleborne is going to be something special, and all of you will play a part in that. Thank you very much!
Just $50 more to go. Once we hit that mark, I will put that towards the motherboard and processor for the new machine, and I will be making my own "donation" for the RAM and solid state drive. This machine will be solely dedicated to Battleborne servers. It belongs to you all. I can't wait to see what it becomes.

Re: Server Hardware
And we have two more huge donations from IamGroot, and GloryExile! Thank you guys so much! With their donations, we have officially met our goal!!! I will be making the orders for new hardware this weekend, once I shop around and find the best bang for your buck.
I want to thank everyone once again. You guys have completely blown me away. I thought it was going to be a long time before this could happen, or that I would end up footing most of the bill myself. This proves to me that you guys think this server is something special, and for that I am eternally grateful and greatly humbled. Battleborne is my dream, and you guys are helping to make it better and better. I promise you all that I will work to make it the best experience possible. We have a lot of plans for improvement, so keep an eye out. Things are about to get fun.
Thank you everyone.

Re: Server Hardware
Oh yea, I'll be upgrading the cooler eventually. It came from the site pre-installed like that. But with a server it isn't so important, especially considering I expect this thing to be running at about 10% usage lol.
Re: Server Hardware
Should have it up and running some time this weekend. Expect some downtime saturday morning.

Re: Server Hardware
Shouldn't be long. I'm expecting an hour or two to migrate the hardware. I'll try to do it early in the morning when few players are on.
